Sleep Number "Take The Roar Out of Snore" TV Commercial

Featuring song "The Lion Sleeps Tonight (Wimoweh) By The Tokens

We can all agree that sleeping next to someone or near someone that snores is extremely difficult and annoying to say the least. The amount of people that snore when they sleep are numerous. Because of this issue, the folks at Sleep Number, or Select Comfort as they are also known, try to take advantage of that in their recent ad. The sleep number beds are not like other regular beds since theirs are adjustable. Because of the Sleep Number's bed ability to do so, it makes it easier to disrupt a person's snoring next to you via a button.

The  Jungle In The Bedroom

In the advert, we see a couple walking around their house as they are on their way to bed. As the cameras switches back and forth between the man and the woman, we see a cat, some fishes and the sounds of other animals. The concept taken by the commercial is as if the couple's bedroom is a jungle. There are birds chirping and monkeys making sounds as well as a lion roaring. On cue, the beautiful song by The Tokens "The Lion Sleeps Tonight (Winoweh) begins to play on the background. As the couple gets into bed, the man quickly begins snoring loudly. Annoyed by this, his wife takes one look at him and then reaches for her Sleep Number 'Partner Snore' remote. As she adjusts his side of the bed's height, the man immediately stops snoring. The funny part of this commercial is that just as quickly as she falls asleep, she also begins to snore as well. Of course the man also uses his remote to adjust her side of the bed and ends her snoring.

In the ad, actor Jacob Wallach plays the husband while Abby Miller plays the wife. The voice-over is performed by Kayce Alltop. We are unsure who the ad agency responsible for this TV commercial is though. Still, taking such a serious issue such as snoring and turning it into a comical and whimsical commercial is a very brilliant move by the folks at Sleep Number. Having a bed which can adjust to different levels is also convenient and comforting to those that can afford it. The song used in the ad has been recorded numerous times by various artists dating all the way back to 1939. However, the version by The Tokens has been one of the most popular ones. The song went on to earn more than $15 million in royalties over the years for the group.

For those that have a snoring issue with a roommate or partner, the Sleep Number bed may just for them. But for the rest of us who cannot afford it, dealing with the problem or sleeping in another room might be our only other option.
